Bausch & Lomb recalls ReNu MultiPlus |

Bausch & Lomb has announced that it will recall about 1.5 million bottles of its ReNu MultiPlus because of a contamination that could cause the cleanser to lose its effectiveness. The company’s decision to pull the bottles from stores makes this the second high-profile contact lens solution recall it has faced in less than a year.

Tennessee residents file a pair of ReNu lawsuits |

Two residents of Nashville, Tennessee have filed ReNu lawsuits against Bausch & Lomb. John Richardson and Kathy Binkley allege that they contracted the eye infection Fusarium keratitis after using Bausch & Lomb’s ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution. Both claim to have suffered significant vision loss as a result of their Fusarium keratitis symptoms.

Hong Kong officials still vigilant for infection outbreak |

Health officials in Hong Kong are keeping a close eye on the relaunch of a withdrawn brand of contact lens solution. Bausch & Lomb’s ReNu Multiplus will hit store shelves in the country for the first time since it was taken off the market in February 2006.

Two NY women file ReNu lawsuit |

Two women who contracted an eye infection after using Bausch & Lomb’s ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution have filed a lawsuit against the company. Yomaira Santiago and Melissa Ippolito of Staten Island, New York say in their ReNu lawsuit that the contact lens solution caused them to be diagnosed with the fungal infection Fusarium keratitis, which caused both to lose some vision in one eye.

As the many ReNu lawsuits facing Bausch & Lomb over its ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution make their way to court, legal experts are saying that more could be on the way. Some ReNu lawyers expect that as many as 1,000 ReNu lawsuits could eventually be filed.

Proceedings in first ReNu lawsuits set for next week |

Pretrial proceedings in the first set of ReNu lawsuits against Bausch & Lomb will begin next week in South Carolina. ReNu attorneys and their clients from 80 cases will meet to exchange information with lawyers from Bausch & Lomb. After the judge in the case oversees the exchange of all the requested information and documents, the cases will return to their own jurisdictions for trial. Most of the ReNu lawsuits are expected to go to trial within a year to 18 months.
