If You Have Used ReNu with MoistureLoc

There have been more than 100 known and thousands of possible cases of the dangerous eye infection Fusarium keratitis caused by the contact lens solution ReNu with MoistureLoc. Because of this, Bausch & Lomb has issued a worldwide ReNu recall. Legal experts are predicting that Bausch & Lomb could face $1 billion or more in potential ReNu lawsuits because of the unknown extent of the eye infections.


Watch for Fusarium keratitis symptoms
Contact lens wearers should also watch for any of the following symptoms, which may be the first signs of a Fusarium keratitis infection:

        • Red, inflamed eyes
        • Tearing
        • Watery eyes
        • Eye pain that does not improve
           after taking out the contact lens
        • Blurry vision
        • Swelling or discharge
        • Sensitivity to light


Concern about other multi-purpose solutions
Contact lens wearers who experience any of these symptoms after having used ReNu with MoistureLoc or another multi-purpose contact lens solution should remove the contact lenses treated with the solution immediately and call their doctor for an examination.

renu-4Although ReNu with MoistureLoc was the only contact lens solution recalled, officials have expressed concern that other multi-purpose contact lens solutions may pose similar health risks.
