Experts question Bausch & Lomb response time on ReNu recall

Crisis experts have been quite critical of Bausch & Lomb for its slow response time in alerting consumers about the potentially blinding effects of using its ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution.
Experts say that Bausch & Lomb should have followed the lead of many American retail chains, including Wal-Mart, CVS and Walgreens, which voluntarily withdrew ReNu with MoistureLoc from stores after the Centers for Disease Control warned of its link to fungal infections. “They needed to show that they are more concerned about their consumers’ health than their bottom line,” says communications consultant Robert Marston.

Several ReNu customers who claim they were injured from using the product have retained legal counsel. Experts predict that the first of what may be hundreds of ReNu lawsuits will be filed soon.
